About Us
​We are a community amateur orchestra that first performed in 2007. We are welcoming and friendly, and just love the excitement and thrill of playing music together and wish to encourage new other musicians to explore the joy of playing in an orchestra. We welcome players of wide range of abilities and tastes attracting musicians from all walks of life, teachers to farmers, pilots to dog walkers. university students, pharmacists, biochemists and doctors; school students to retired. Our repertoire includes music from popular film and stage to those popular classics we all love and one you haven't got to know yet. We also perform toe tapping big band tunes accompanying our two wonderful singers, and loved by our audiences. We encourage musicians of all abilities to join as our main goal is to foster an environment where the experience of playing music is thrilling, exciting, fun and brings a buzz to your life. If your instrument has been gathering dust and is waiting for you to rediscover the joy of music: or you are changing jobs and looking for that opportunity of playing in an exciting orchestra we could be the group you are looking for. UHO has performed in many venues and delivered many types of concerts. We performed a musical tribute to celebrate King Charles' Coronation, supported the D-Day Darlings at Trentham Gardens, played at Liverpool Arena and at summer Balls. Most of all however, we love to entertain our local communities with performances throughout the year. Our library of music caters for a wide range of tastes and abilities. We use orchestral and concert band scores to ensure we play a wide range of music. If you are a string, woodwind or brass player you will always find the scores we select to play has something just for you. If you are having fun and the audience is loving the sound, we know our goals are achieved.

MEMBERSHIP
We are a community orchestra, welcoming players from all walks of life and musical standards. Our friendly environment that provides an opportunity to play a wide range of music. Our members are of all ages, students, farmers, primary school teachers, dog walkers, pilots and health care workers, not forgetting those who are retired.​​

MUSIC WE PLAY
We play all styles of music, allowing both musicians and audiences to have wide and exciting experiences of music. Our wide repertoire extends from classical to film and stage, big band to opera and jazz. Players of strings, brass, woodwind or percussion, will always find parts that are engaging and challenging. We continually introduce new music to our repertoire.

PERFORMANCES
Our concerts deliver ever new experiences to our audiences. We play classical or theatre masterpieces that compliment performances of singers and dancers. Our concerts have occurred at venues including the Liverpool Arena and Birmingham NEC, and have included performances with award winning choirs, solo singers, dance groups and national pairs dance champions. We design events to present Summer Cabarets and Balls, themed concerts and our traditional Christmas Concert.
Thoughts of orchestra members and the audience​​
To the UHO, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful concerts we have enjoyed in '22. The Christmas concert was exceptional and each performance so enjoyable. I know the friends I brought along all I am writing and pass their appreciation.
